Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – Trash Heaps Are Made For Computers
June 17th, 2008 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
However, I don’t think they help to stir the imagination of potential buyers.
I know where this house is, and since this is still the picture in the MLS, I’m assuming the pile of trash is still there, so I think that I’m going to add my computer to the top of the pile.
But on the other hand, maybe it all got hauled away 3 weeks ago when the property was listed. I think I’ll save the gas and just put my computer out on the Curb for regular trash pickup day. Â
By the way, this type of truly ugly suburban Las Vegas home makes me truly appreciate the charm and character of Vintage Vegas all the more.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – Overly Personalized Homes
June 9th, 2008 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
Tinkerbelle got me thinking about homes that are extremely personalized.
They can turn a buyer off before they ever see a home. Especially when it’s obvious that the personalized decor won’t stay with the house.
Please, remember that the purpose of the pictures is to show off the features of the home, not the decor of the seller.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day –
March 26th, 2008 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
Briana, A regular reader started her home search today and quickly discovered my secret. I don’t have to “search” for these awful photos. They’re EVERYWHERE! She sent me a month’s worth, and I thank her kindly.
Makes me wanna rush right over to see this home. I hope there’s no bodies or whatever under there.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – Skinny Buyers Only, Please
January 10th, 2008 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
It’s a good thing body size isn’t a protected class. Even Uncle Arnie (my brother the photographer from Austin TX who’s in town this week) couldn’t figure out how this picture got so badly compressed. I don’t really think that this doorway, or closet door is accurately portrayed. And I doubt the house has settled that badly, either.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – Have You Noticed The Screaming Has Gotten Louder From The Top Of The Stratosphere
December 26th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
I
often try to show the stratosphere in my listings when there’s a good view of it from one of the downtown properties.
I have several hundred photos of the tower that I’ve taken over the years during storms, fireworks displays, daytime, night time, dusk, and dawn. But I didn’t have one like this.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – The Joke Is In The Context
November 30th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
Normally, I just cut and paste the picture, but in this case I had to take a screen shot to show you the picture in context. I got a good laugh out of the caption, and I hope you will too.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – What’s A Home Without Walls?
November 24th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
Of all the features that should definitely be shown, it’s really important to point out that the home has walls. Sometime the walls even have pictures or doo-dads on them. In fact the walls and doo-dads are so important that two shots of them are even better. I wouldn’t look at a home without walls. Would you?

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – The Dishwasher Must Be Broken
November 19th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
There’s tons of things wrong about putting this picture in the MLS. When I look at it, and when buyers who are home hunting on line see, the first question has to be whether the dishwasher works or not. Is the missing drawer truly missing, or is it just misplaced? Trash cans, especially open ones with visible trash are not one of the things I look forward to seeing. One minute of effort on the part of the seller or the agent could have made this a much more attractive kitchen.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – It’s All Downhill From Here
November 19th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
2 diminsional pictures of 3 dimensional spaces such as the corner of a room are really hard to shoot. Personally I’m now in about 3rd grade as a photographer, and really trying hard to figure out all thousands of variables. Professional photographers call it perspective. Th

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – Pictures Should Get The Viewer Excited, Not Put Them To Sleep
November 18th, 2007 Categories: Las Vegas Real Estate News, Worst MLS Photo
My sleep pattern’s been all screwed up for over a week now. In fact, as soon as I finish this post, I’m going back to bed. I won’t be able to help myself after a few minutes browsing the “furniture folder” of bad MLS pictures. I noticed that the number one sub-category is beds. If the pictures are supposed to help the viewer get a sense of the features of a home, I can’t figure out why a picture of a bed furthers that goal.
Here’s a few of my favorites. If you didn’t sleep in this morning, you’ll probably be wishing you had by the time you’re done clicking on all the thumbnails.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – How To Stage And Decorate A Vacant Home Without Spending A Fortune
October 27th, 2007 Categories: Buyers, Las Vegas Real Estate News, Market Conditions, Worst MLS Photo
I just got a giggle out of these two. Nothing earth shattering or truly awful. Just amusing.
I just finished flashing quickly thru a couple of hundred listings for a client. One of the criteria was to only look at property that has been on the market for over 6 months.
Here’s the search criteria I was using:, his minimum size, (3br, over 1400sf) the  area (vintage vegas of course), older than 1970, his price range (up to 325k) and over 6 months on the market.
Results of the search? 241 homes. 107 have no pictures at all. 57 only have only one picture.
From those that had pictures, I saved 73 new pictures that could qualify for a “worst MLS photo†post.
Truly astounding. And truly telling. I won’t be showing him a single home tomorrow morning that has no pictures. Based on pricing, my neighborhood knowledge, and what I could tell from the pictures, I picked a dozen homes for tomorrow.
2 years ago, that same search would have only returned 2 or 3 homes. I’d have shown him them all whether they had pictures or not. I wouldn’t show 241 homes even to my mother!
