Clark County Commission approved plans for approximately 4,000 affordable housing units with $1,600,000 in funding to help meet the valley’s shortage of homes.
The Nevada Housing Coalition states Nevada lacks more than 84,000 units for low-income families. Amid rising rents and lack of inventory, many Southern Nevadans are being pushed to the brink of homelessness.
This will not solve the problem but it’s a place to start according to Commission Chair Jim Gibson. They plan on doing more next year and hope to get better at helping fill the need. The plan is to continue to fund in a way that enables us to meet the need for 80,000 households.
