Bel Air Homes for Sale
Bel Air is a small vintage Las Vegas neighborhood in the 89104 ZIP code developed during the city’s rapid postwar growth. Rather than a single subdivision built at one time, Bel Air consists of five residential tracts platted between 1953 and 1958. Historical research by the City of Las Vegas identifies several investors and development companies involved in the different phases, including Curtis P. Summers, Bel Air Development Inc., Highland Development Corporation and Bellhaven Development Corporation. UNLV Special Collections also preserves records documenting Highland Development Corporation’s work in the Bel Air Tract along Wengert Avenue during the 1950s.
Located near Eastern Avenue and Oakey Boulevard, Bel Air’s homes reflect the changing residential styles of mid-1950s Las Vegas, with predominantly single-story homes on established streets including Wengert, Sweeney, Griffith, Bracken and Crestwood. Because several different developers participated in Bel Air’s five tracts, the neighborhood has more architectural variety than its compact size might suggest.
