A note from Lynn Zook, of Classic Las Vegas. Her Blog should be one that you read regularly. If you really want to learn about early Las Vegas History, then I highly recommend it. Lynn said in her email to members of Classic Las Vegas:
It’s May! So there is a lot going on this month, preservation wise and more!
Here are some of the things happening this week:
On Wednesday, May 6th, the Friends of Classic Las Vegas will be honored with an award from the Historic Preservation Commission “In recognition of their outstanding support and advocacy for the preservation of the historic resources within the City of Las Vegas and advancing the education and appreciation of historic preservation for the citizens of the community.”
On Thursday, May 7th, Untold Stories tackles the question of “Cultural Tourism: Can it work in Las Vegas?” Panelists include Brian “Paco” Alvarez, the curator of the Las Vegas News Bureau, Marilyn Gillespie, the directors of the Natural History Museum, Aaron Micalef, curator at the Springs Preserve and Courtney Mooney, Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Las Vegas.
