Musical Icons Three Dog Night To Perform Live
From Fremont Street Experience for the
44th Annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon
The band will dedicate the encore portion of their hit-filled performance to millions of viewers nationwide
from the heart of downtown Las Vegas on Sunday, September 6
LAS VEGAS – September 1, 2009 – Iconic music supergroup Three Dog Night is set to perform during the final weekend of the Fremont Street Experience’s “Summer of ’69: Vegas or Bust” festival and summer concert series celebrating the sounds and history of the epic year in American culture. The band hits the 3rd stage at 9 p.m. and as they wind up their hit-filled performance, all of their fans and revelers in the crowd will be invited to join in on the band’s encore as it goes out live to the MDA telethon’s national television audience of more than 40 million viewers.
“This is actually the third time we’ve performed for the MDA telethon,” said Cory Wells, founding member of Three Dog Night. “We performed in the 70s and the 90s and are excited to be part of it now in 2009. In the telethon’s 44th year, just as we enter our 40th year as a band, we feel privileged to once again support Jerry’s Kids.”
The 44th annual MDA Telethon is hosted by MDA National Chairman and Telethon star Jerry Lewis, with co-hosts Jann Carl, Nancy O’Dell, Alison Sweeney, Ace Young and Billy Gilman. In addition to Three Dog Night, this year’s entertainment line-up includes Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, Joshua Bell, Five For Fighting, Train, Bo Bice, WAR, Tony Orlando, Charo, Terry Fator, comedian George Wallace, Lee Greenwood and many more.
The MDA Telethon starts on Sunday, September 6 at 6 p.m. PST and runs through 3:30 p.m. PST on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Three Dog Night enter its fourth decade as a band bringing with them some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, they delivered 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including three #1 singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs.
Made up of founders Cory Wells and Danny Hutton on lead vocals, original band members Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards) and Michael Allsup (guitar) and completed by Paul Kingery (bass and vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums), Three Dog Night is currently recording new material including the soon to be released digital singles “Heart Of Blues” and “Prayer Of The Children.”
For the closing night of “Summer of ’69: Vegas or Bust” at Fremont Street Experience, the band will be re-creating their larger than life songs with customary impeccable harmonies and exciting arrangements.
