A month into VeryVintageVegas.com I told the story of how I got my Nickname. On April 18, 2007 I published the story. Back then, I’d be surprised if I had 5 readers a day. Now we average over 200, which makes us the #2 real estate blog in all of Las Vegas. Many of the readers we talk to tell us they only check in every few days or weeks. That translates to 1000’s of total readers. I figure most of you don’t know the story, so as part of our Birthday Celebration, I’m repeating it for you.
Different tracking services (those are those funny little widget button thingies at the bottom of the left column) have us in the top 100 and top 25 and top 50 of all the real estate blogs they track. Each one uses a different algorithm and criteria, but none the less, we seem to be doing something right. You can click on any of them to see the other blogs they track, and check in on the best bloggers in the country. I might as well give a plug to the top real estate blog in Las Vegas since I’m committed to passing him up. If that’s going to happen, then each of you has to tell some friends about VeryVintageVegas. Please!
Anyway, I got off the subject. Sorry. Here’s the story….
During Thanksgiving Dinner at my mom’s (about 20 years ago), I got up from the table to get something or other from the kitchen. My oldest brother Arnie said “Jack, while you’re there get the milk.”
My four year old very petulant and very bright niece grabbed her fathers arm and sternly reprimanded him “DADDY! You know his name is UNCLE JACK!!!!”
Of course, at any gathering of the LeVines, it doesn’t take much to send us all into hysterics. My mother was laughing so hard tears were running down her face.
Naturally, I was teased to death for the whole weekend and they went out of their way to “Uncle Jack” me at every opportunity. Of course the nickname stuck within the family, spread to my friends and eventually, I hope to you. You’re welcome to call me Uncle Jack, also.
