Might as well bring them back. If you’re a fairly new reader, you might want to check out the HUNDREDS of them that I published in a long series. The last one was just over a year ago on July 3^rd, 2009.

I’ve been totally slammed since before the holiday weekend. I truly thought I could take 2 days off last Sunday and Monday, but the world just wouldn’t let me. It also left me no time or energy to blog some more as I’d promised. This way at least I get something posted to keep you interested.

Back when we were running this series, there were only 8 photo slots for the MLS. Often there weren’t any pictures at all being shown. Then they changed the rules and required at least one. Then we often got ONE and ONLY one. Then they upped it to 16 available picture slots, and eventually to 25. Now we have 3 times the opportunity to find bad pictures. This might be fun again.

Let’s start out with an easily identifiable KRISEL design home in Paradise Palms. It’s a Model 8, on the golf course. It’s for sale for 225,000. AND it’s not a SHORT SALE or an REO.

The man in the picture isn’t as easily recognizable. I still haven’t decided if he’s taking picture into a mirror, or if he merely stepped in front of the shot while someone else was taking the picture.

People in the pictures is just one of the dozen categories of things agents do wrong. A better angle would have been from about 5 feet to right. Then it would show that it’s a peninsula fireplace separating the living room from the dining room, and would show more of the “wall of glass” with the view out to the golf course.

 

The only thing worse than a bad picture is no pictures at all.

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day

There isn’t one, today. I started out to do the post, but, I just couldn’t find one that wasn’t merely a variation of a well document theme.

Oh, I’ve got thousands of bad MLS pictures stored in a folder on the computer. You’ve seen at least a dozen each of every type over the last two years. How many more sideways bathrooms do you need. Cluttered kitchens – a dime a dozen. Underexposed, almost totally black one’s – you can find them in the dark. Cherrio boxes, bud light 12 packs and other brands name products prominently displayed – I’ll show them again when they start paying me to do it.

So, I’ll bring the series back whenever I have one that’s unique and original. In the meanwhile, all you affectionados of “The Worst MLS Photo” can help out by keeping your eyes open while you search around in the MLS. On any given listing you can just click “inquire”, fill in the spaces, write “check out the kitchen” or whatever, and send. It’s easy, and I won’t be mad if you stay anonymous.

Who knows, you might even find your dream home.

Running late, but never fear….

I’m focusing on furniture this week. As a general rule, (or at least it used to be) furnished homes show better than empty ones.

Focusing on furniture instead of features doesn’t give buyers a warm fuzzy “Oh, I could be happy there” feeling.

Another first. (Thanks to reader Suzanne S. for sending this to me. If you see one – especially one that’s truly unique, please email me a copy or a link to it.)

It’s almost like a double exposure that sometimes would happen if you didn’t wind the film far enough. Do they still make film?  

It’s the top of the kitchen in the top half, and bottom of the kitchen in the bottom half, but the halves don’t line up, and aren’t the same exposure.

In any case, I’m grateful for something new that we haven’t seen a hundred times already.

Ok, I’m going back to doing them daily, since a whole bunch of you (well – 5 or 6) called or emailed me today saying you miss them.

I’m wondering if the wrirly round utensil holder is included?

It must be since they gave it such prominent placement while staging the home.

And their little dog…too!

Worst MLS Photo Of The Day – The Patented Three-In-One Method

This is a first! After about 2 years worth of worst MLS photos, I really thought I’d shown you every conceivable thing that was possible to do to show off  a property in a bad light. Wrong!

I guess when you take a bank owned listing, you have to upload the photos to the banks data manager. Then you can print the page and scan it and upload a copy of the page. Why not?

3 pictures – 1 click. Now that’s time-saving at it’s best!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All 3 sets are labeled as “exterior front”, and there’s no picture of the front of the property among them.

Monday is the day we do the laundry. Don’t ask me why. My mother says it’s an old tradition. She always spent Monday doing the laundry. She says it makes sense, since more dirty clothes got generated by 5 kids during the weekend than the rest of the week combined. She still only does laundry on Monday to this very day.

Of course now that I’m doing my own laundry, I’m changing the tradition to every 4^th Monday.
